On a hot summer day, residents and visitors alike can choose from one of three pools to cool off in. The largest, boasting an impressive 50 meters of pristine water, can accommodate up to 455 bathers – and sunbathers. The other two pools, at 25 meters, have a maximum of about 225 people. The Breezyhill Pool is especially fun for young children with its waterfalls and shaded islands.

Those who are not fond of swimming but enjoy other water activities like boating and fishing can take advantage of 5 beautiful ponds filled with bass, sun perch and carp. Ashburn Farm only allows catch-and-release type fishing, but nonetheless, fishermen who are looking for a quiet afternoon on the water will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy reeling in their catch. Plenty of wildlife and vegetation can be observed around the ponds as well, making them an ideal destination for hikes and nature walks. Four of the ponds feature beautiful fountains, as well.

The Windmill Recreational Area is perhaps the most comprehensive outdoor hub to be found in Ashburn Farm. At its center stands the Pavilion, a large covered area surrounded by picnic tables and grills, where residents can enjoy a cookout with their families for free – just pack your meal and enjoy the free amenities. The Pavilion can also be reserved for events such as birthday parties and company outings. Around the pavilion and within walking distance, visitors to the Windmill Recreational Area will find tennis courts, a baseball field, Windmill Pond, the Windmill Recreation Center and a tot lot, a recreational area for kids 5-12 filled with slides, swings and climbing structures. Ashburn Farm’s Windmill Recreational Area really has everything one needs for a day of fun conveniently close and easy to access.

In addition to all these great nature and outdoor activities, Ashburn Farm offers plenty of nature trails for hiking, walking and cycling. 28 miles of trails, to be exact. These are especially beautiful in the Fall when the trees showcase their fiery display of reds and golds, and motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trails, which means you can walk (or bike) them leisurely and enjoy the sounds of nature along the way. Many of the trails are marked with their destination, but maps are available to help guide you along the way.
